Nyx dropped to the floor in a pile of flailing limbs and curses. When her visions had gotten so aggressive, she’d never know. She missed the small flashes here and there compared to the assaults of late.

“Okay,” she sighed as she pushed to her feet and dusted the dirt from her knees.

Nyx stopped short when she realized how fucking ridiculous it was to wiping pretend dirt from her pants. This was a vision, not real life. But as she rubbed her fingers together the fine pebbles of packed dirt crumbled between them.

“Breathe, Nyx. Everything is fine. Maybe your chaos is growing, and your visions are more like hallucinations. More power equals more real. Please Zeus let that be the cause.” Muttering to herself in the darkness was just the icing on the cake.

Nyx gathered her wits and inspected her surroundings just as she did every other time she was thrown into a vision. This one though…

It was unlike any other.

The cavernous space she stood in felt endless in the dark. There was nothing she could see to the side or above, only darkness.

However, a yard or so in front of her, a lone spotlight created a circle on the ground. Nyx stood just outside where the light reached and didn’t dare step a single foot forward.

She’d never had a vision like this before and was terrified the thrum of her pounding heart would fill the room. Normally, falling into a vision was like opening her eyes, not crash landing onto dirt. She was like a specter standing in the middle of a busy sidewalk without the ability to see, taste, or smell. In this one, though?

She felt everything.

Electricity raised the hair on the back of her neck like the build of a storm, and Nyx was ready to get the fuck out of there. She’d never had much luck forcing the vision away, though, until it had shown her everything it wanted to.

The last time a vision felt this real, The Devil of Club Hel had looked her straight in the eyes. If he could see her… could he have touched her?

Hushed whispers filtered into the space around her. Nyx turned to check the darkness, but the void was impossible to see through. She checked both sides but couldn’t tell where the voices were coming from.

“What the shiiiiit,” she murmured, dragging the last word to give voice to the anxiety gripping her chest.

The voices sounded again, but this time a little louder. She turned to follow the sound and nearly choked on her surprise.

In the center of the light sat the biggest contrast of a woman she’d ever seen. Her soft, feminine form was lush with bountiful curves and skin that shone like silk. Long hair flowed in waves down her back and was the most unique mixture of vermillion and carmine. What was most stunning though was the harsh lines and bold features standing stark against the femininity of her body. There was nothing delicate about the menace shaping her brow or the sharp calculation brewing in her crimson eyes.
